Welcome to the Land of Mystifying Cafes

8thandPrez writes on the Park Slope Message Board: “Took a walk down 5th Ave. last night. A two-block stretch of 5th has developed into the Land of Mystifying Cafes:”

Drama Cafe: Completely empty. Suffers from being on the diciest block of 5th Ave, across from the school. Totally incoherent concept and the most unfortunate name ever.

ComfortZone: Crazy name. Have no idea what this place is. again, totally empty. (jennitrixie adds: “Comfort Zone is the worst name ever. It reminds me of Jerri Blank’s stretch pants.”)

Ugly Neon Burger Joint: So forgettable I can’t even remember its name. Overly lighted, neon overload, shiny metal.

  1. Drama Cafe is quite unfortunate. The owner has made a real attempt at creating a very nice space, particularly the backyard. When I ate there several months ago, my friend and I sat for nearly 20 mins before our order was taken, were ignored for another 45 mins, and were then told that there was “a problem in the kitchen,” and our selections could not be served. Also had similar experiences at Comfort Zone.

  2. HEllo…
i am now the arts & events coordinator at Drama Cafe. I understand the issue with school. However, that doesn’t affect weekends. We’ve started a Friday night OPEN MIC NIGHT at 9pm and a Saturday night acoustic artist showcase called LIVE AT DRAMA starting at 9pm as well.
I will be performing this Saturday, February 3rd at 11pm.
Things have been and are continually being done to improve the place, and it’s really doing well!
STOP BY AND CHANGE YOUR MIND OF THE PLACE, BECAUSE SOMETIMES A LTITLE DRAMA IN YOUR LIFE CAN BE A GOOD THING!
    -all the best
