Hi all my cousins – Barbara how is Sara?? I’m a little bit older than you guys – so I can really tell you some stories. All on 21st Street – Longo’s Bar, the pool room down 2st St., Casa Storta, St Anna’s Club, the Pontiac Club, (Uncle Angelo, Chubby Perrotta used to belong to it. That’s the builing that has the steps going down – when I was a young girl my father Tony used to show movies on the wall of the adjacent house (216 21st St, I think) We used to bring popcorn and candy and watch movies. The whole neighborhood used to show up. Do any of you remember that?
I’m living in Florida for quite a while now. If any of you would like to get a 21st Stree reunion I would love it. We have one about 4 yrs ago in Staten Island with my brothers Donny and Ralphie, Mike Clementi (Josies Grocery Store’s son), Roseann and Sonny Pisciotti, Ally Boy, Joey Scabs, I can’t remember all – there was a great turnout. Keep me posted and you can always contact Jeanette, we talk everyday. LOVE TO ALL OF YOU

Barbara, Wow, I can’t believe it. How long has it been? How are you? I was trying to remember when you left for Florida. Was it after 3rd grade? I’m still in Brooklyn – married 35 years.
Terry, I can’t believe you have so many cousins. My family knew of all of them. Grew up right next door to Fina and Ralph at 215 21st Street. My dad was Joe Carabetta. Maybe some of you would remember him along with my mom Rose and brother Vinnie. Unfortunately, they all have passed.
Donna is married to Joey Rago — she is my daughter’s godmother. We are still friends.
Barbara, Mary Viviani lived across the street. Don’t know what ever happened to her.
Great to hear from you all. Keep the memories coming.

HI all, This is a great site for a walk down memory lane. I went to St John’s and graduated in 1960. In 1961 moved out to flatbush but never got the old neighborhood out of my mind. Karen Dritto is my patient and she gave me this site. When she told me that Michale Michele remembered me, I had to see it for myself. I still keep in touch with Bob Sforzo and Nick Santangelo-blasts from the past. Yes, I do remember Fr Scalafani saying prayer + study = success. How about those trips to Rye Beach. I got my first kiss in the tunnel of love there- some things you never forget! Charlie Cirillo and I were close and used to hang out all the time.
Hi Karen
Yes I remember you, constantine and Marie. I think my husband Phil was in the drum corp. If i’m not mistaken Richie Eskew was in it also.
I use to come to your house on 6th avenue with my little girl Tammy who now has her own children, Philip 17 and James 10. I also have another daughter Jennifer. She has three sons, Peter 14, Aiden 21mos and Thomas 7months.. Yes 5 grandsons.. My world…
Do you remember Johnny Plo? from the court yard? He is my daughter’s godfather. We lost contact, spoke to him a couple of years ago and stop hearing from him..I’m a little busy with my little crew.
How is Marie? Tell her i said hi and maybe she can get on the site.
Thanks for remembering me .
Talk soon
gerry

YOUR OLDEST FRIEND TERRY LOL
Hi all my cousins! Yes – Bobby Ann and I still talk every night. And Debbie pops up when least expected. I had a lot of great holidays at her house. Thank God I see them. Also cousin Terry Sherman and Augie and Jean Angelo stop at the Mall to see me when I’m working. I didn’t grow up on 21st Street but I remember some funny stories Aunt Anna Pinto would tell. I remember waiting at my house on 7th Street for her to come and make us laugh. Barbara and Stephanie – do you remember when your dog had puppies and my mother (Aunt Mary) asked you where they came from. One of you said “Tammy farted them out!!!” I laugh about that til today. I remember going to Aunt Fena’s when I was a little girl. I remember me and Loretta dancing to “Rag Mop” in Aunt Fena’s living room. There was a knock at the door and it was the Jew (the guy who would sell everything). Loretta hollered out “My mother said she’s not home!” (Holly used to call Aunt Fena – Finikins) She slept at my mother’s one night in my bed and I had to sleep on a beach chair. She had a mask on her eyes and cream all over her face. I loved her so much. It’s so great to be in touch. Terry – you’re a great organizer – how about organizing a 21st Street or cousins reunion while your recuperating with your leg? Love you all – Cousin Jeanette

Debbie – Tito Puento knew me and Bobbie Ann and your mother. He used to call your mother “Tessie from Hester Street”. We had a lot of good times dancing. My mother (Aunt Mary) used to say “Keep dancing – it will keep you out of trouble”> haha
Hi cuz, why” Tessie from hester street”.Good ole aunt Mary. This thing is great. Love you Jeanette
Hey Joe Strapoli,
I think you and my dad Thomas Ready lived a few doors down from each other on 5th street. He was born in `1939 and went to Manuel Training. I heard all about your memories and his, wonderful times and places. He has since passed away but I would love to hear from you if you knew him.
hi to bobby ann, yes marie is my sister and matthew my brother. i also have a sister roseann and pat and another brother augie. i remember your brother donny always thought he was so cute. so nice to hear from u and hope all is well give my love to everyone. if u have a reunion pls. let me know. terry, i remember ur uncle tony and aunt fina. we were always there whe the feast was on, i used to think going into their yard was like walking thru a barn and i think st. anna’s was next store to them at that time. i was good friends with susan lentini, she lived on22nd 4th and 5th. i remember always being at her house she later move to 22nd 5 and 6th i think. does anyone remember grace cohen, jamsey and anthony olivia.
Jeanette and Bobby, What room in grandmas house was the little room? I remember hearing so many stories about the little room.I miss the “Curly Q Ranch” who came up with that name?
Debbie, the little room was in the back on the right side going into the bathroom and next to the back door going into the back yard. It was later used as a closet for your mother’s clothes. (She had a lot of clothes) I remember borrowing them and she used to get mad. Uncle Tony gave the name “Curly Q Ranch. He put a painted toilet seat (shaped like a horseshoe and hung it up – years ago when I wasn’t born yet, it was a stable where Great Grandpa used to keep his horse and carriage. Also, we had a chicken coop in the back and an outhouse. Later on it became our play area where we used to play Tarzan and your mother always wanted to be Jane.
Our dog’s name was Butchie.
Tito gave me the nickname Tessie from Hester Street because I had black hair and used to wear a long hairpiece. Your mother he used to call Sweetie. So many stories going thru my mind will write some more later.
TO TERRY:
SAY HI TO EVERYONE FROM ME – HAVEN’T SEEM THEM IN YEARS – CHUBBY, EVELYN, AUGIE AND EVERYONE – JEANETTE KEEPS ME POSTED ON EVERYONE – LOVE YOU ALL – TELL AUGIE IF HE REMEMBERS ME SELLING THE NECKERCHIEFS, I SOLD A LOT OF THEM IN SCHOOL.
Hey Jeanette,
It has been a very long time since I last saw you. I have alot of memories going to aunt mary’s with my mom. I believe it was me who told Aunt Mary that Tammy farted the puppies out. I can always remember my mom(Aunt Anna) saying to me on the way to your moms” BE GOOD AND DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING” how I hated to hear those words, it meant I had to sit in the living room with Uncle Emile(spelling wrong?) and listen to the damn opera’s on the radio with him. I could’t wait for Tommy to get home so we could go upstairs and play with the trains. I also remember the big flowers Aunt Mary grew in her yard, to this day whenever I see those flowers in any garden shop I always relate those flowers to your mom
How are Tommy and Danny doing? Do you still have your beautiful doll collection? Are you still living in the same house on 7th. Jeanette, thanks for telling Ronny about this site, I love it
Bobby Ann,
Seraphine wants to know, do you know who in the family still has her first year birthday invitation?
Love to all cousin Barbara
BARBARA:
“Tell Sara I think I have that invitation – I was very close to your mother, Aunt Anna – still miss taling to her – When Saraphine was a baby, me and Aunt Loretta begged your mom for us to take her for a walk in her carriage (your mother was afraid) but we convinced her that we would be very careful. She looked like a little doll. We walked to Germains on 15th St and in those days you could leave the carriages outside the store. We went in and then when we left we were so involved in talking about boys or whatever and as we stepped of the curb on 20th St we both looked at each other and yelled the baby. We turned and ran back to Germains and thank God there was Sara safe and smiling. We almost had heart attacks and we never told your mother. She would have killed us.
Hope to see you all soon.
Bobby Ann,
That is too funny. I was just on the phone with Sarah and she said she remembered Aunt Loretta thelling her that story. Your right, my mother would have killed you guys.
I remember my mom telling me that the little room in grandma’s house use to be her bedroom when she was young. She also told me that she was born in the room that use to be my bedroom when great grandpa still owned the house.
I sit hear and thing about all the stories my mom use to tell me about when her and Uncle Angelo and the rest of the clan were young and all the things they use to do to her and I can’t help but sit here and laugh.
The story I remember the most was how they use to play in the stable and had little shoots to take them up to the top because Great grandpa didn’t want them to play in the stable and they heard him coming and everyone scattered and my mom lifted up one of the board to hide and a nail went into her ass and she tryed to be quiet so he wouldn’t catch her. I can still see the expression on her face when she use to tell use that story. I’m sitting here lauging out loud just thinking about it. She was a great story teller, and her facial expressions were priceless.
When you come up this way we have got to get together, I’m sure you really have some great stories to tell.
This site is so additive that Sarah’s going tomorrow to buy a computer. She keeps calling me wanting to know if I’m on and did anyone write back, she’s driving me NUTS!!!!

Hi Michael,
Ronny and Robert (Bo) Ramasanto are my cousins. We all live on the other side of the bridge, St. Pete and Clw. area. Bo is one of the guys that use to sing on the corner. He’s still singing in Clw. My sister just talked with Ronny’s wife and she suggested we all get together and meet where Bo’s singing for some drink, dancing and old time reminicing.

To Michael C, I lived on 21st street, left in 63 when i was ten.I remember another game called buck buck how many fingers are up.We use to play on the corner near D’amicos bakery where the lemon ice had real pieces of lemon peel in it. HE WONT GO ON THE COMPUTER. I SAT WHILE THE PARTY WAS ON TODAY HE WAS ALITTLE EARLY AND I READ SOME OF YOUR NOTES TO HIM. HE REMEMBERED EVERYTHING. FROM 21ST STREET. HE REMEMBERED THE MOVIES COUSIN TONY AND TOOTSIE DID. AUGIE WILL BE WRITING SOON HIS COMPUTER IS BEING FIXED. THE LAT TIME I SAW ANGELO WAS WHEN MY SON WHO WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL (NOW 32 YRS. OLD) WENT TO EUROPE. HE WAS GETTING OFF THE PLANE FROM ITALY AND WHO IS IN FRONT OF HIM BUT THE COUSINS, ANGELO, HIS WIFE THE VACCARO’S MILLIE AND OTHERS. I SEE THIS GUY AND SAY THAT LOOKS LIKE MY DADS COUSIN GIGGSIE AND HE YELLS OUT ….ITS YOUR COUSIN ANGELO. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT MY KID AND THE COUSINS WERE ON THE SAME TRIP AND AT THE VATICAN TOGETHER, OF COURSE THEY DID NOT KNOW EACH OTHER. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE VACCARO’S FROM PARK SLOPE LIKE 7TH STREET. MY HUSBAND GREW UP WITH ROY BUT HIS BROTHERS WERE OLDER. COUSIN TERRY
TERRY,
I was on that trip with Uncle Angelo, his wife Fay, Aunt Gloria, her husband Tommy and Millie Vaccaro – Millie and I were roommates – we had such a great time. I am so glad that I spent that time with her exchanging stories before she passed away. Imagine we were on the same trip as your son. When I was a young girl I spent a lot of time with Mary Ann (Millie and Tony’s daughter) They had a summer place in Lake Ronkonkomo.
I was so sad when I heard Aunt Marie passed. Tell Chubby what he needs to do is a lindy ( I always loved to watch him dance). Yearned to dance with him and when I was older, I did – what a treat. PLEASE TELL HIM THAT.
Some of the Vaccaro’s, Jimmy, Mary Ann, etc. met with Uncle Angelo about a month or two ago. When they go to the West Coast they always get in touch with him. I talk to Uncle Angelo quite often, told him about this site and already knew all about it. When we talk, all we do is laugh about the old times.
WOW!! This site has really taken off. There has been so much added since I last added anything that it would take a LONG time to read through it all. That game you called “buck buck how many fingers are up” we called Johnny on the pony. We played kick the can in the middle of the street, as well as stick ball. Most times the cars would wait for us to finish the round of play. We also played handball off the wall of Atlas bank on the 21st st. side and also on the 22nd st. side of the real estate agent that I can’t remember the name of, a lil help over here again. It seemed like we were always outside playing some kind of a game and if you wandered too far away from you house one of the neighbors would let ya know to get back where ya belonged. As a child I saw it as them being nosey and intruding on my fun but now you see that they were looking out for you, it takes a neighborhood to raise a child huh. Keep the memories comin, i’m really enjoying this tho most of ya seem to be a FEW years older than me 😛
COULD SOMEONE GO TO http//www.brooklynian.com/forum
go into 22ndSt between 4th and 5th Ave – DOLORES and give her this site – she mentions all people that are in this site. I tried, but cannot get into the reply to her – I’m not computer saavy. Thanks for your help!!!!
