PATSY MIELE KIRK
That you for remembering Edithann.
Tommy,
Mikes ice cream truck ! When my son was very young, he got used to the idea that the ice cream truck was Mike’s and when we went upstate camping, he ran after the ice cream truck calling “Mike, Mike”.
I remember Nick’s barber and hearing the men waiting in the seats around me saying lots of risque things (I won’t repeat them here).
I got a gas mask from the Army & Navy store but don’t remember the old man & old lady. Jog my memory. I remember wearing the gas mask while playing around the construction site when they were making the Prospect Expressway. Hey, kids don’t get to play around construction sites like they used to !

How did this idea of the reunion come about ? How many people do you think will attend ? I am assuming this started with a couple of people or so and expanded.
Florence again….
I came home from my lunch around 8 first thing I did was check on here, Marie Elena had just finished her post to you.I had to call her up and we were hysterical on the phone, she said did you see it??? did you see it???she wanted to know all about my day….we had a few good laughs…..I told her I was going to have to put her number on speed dial…..lol…I just saw her in the spring, her Uncle Vinny passed away and he lived in Commack, so my daughter and I went to see her there….too bad it had to be under those circumstances…then I saw her at a bridal shower that was given for one of her friends daughter that lives by me, they go to the Villa Roma every year….the shower was just half mile down the road, so I showed up there….her friend was nice enough to let me stay and we spent the day together….It’s a great feeling when you get to see each other…….When you were out here, you were less than an hour away all that time…
Good for you your retired… my retirement didn’t last long….lol….but that’s a story for the phone….lol or in a nutshell at the end of a book….lol…Ohhhh and I remmeber working in the rectory also, stuffing the envelops you addressed…lol….
I leaving but if you haven’t seen Google street View, go to my earlier post and click on the link. It is amazing. I can’t believe the way you can scan around the street 360 degrees and move up and down the blocks. Visit your old neighborhood without leaving your computer.
Once again:

CAROL MIELE,
You wanted me to send pictures, but I don’t have your email address. If you don’t want to post it on the blog, email me so I can send you photos. [email protected]
Love ya and have a good night.
Mary Ann: You still up? It’s past midnight and I came into the computer room to close it down and had to look one more time. I have to put you on my buddy list too. I was away so if you had sent an IM I wouldn’t have seen it.
Talk to you soon.
What date in March is your BD?
EVERYONE (who has not already done so)
Send an email to me (so I can get your email address) so that we can forward reunion pictures, etc. to everyone on the list.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU’RE ATTENDING THE REUNION! THE HEAD COUNT IS IMPORTANT SINCE WE’RE CATERING.
TERRY ANGELO SHERMAN IS COLLECTING THE $25 PER PERSON AND IT SHOULD BE MAILED TO HER BEFORE THE REUNION.
THANKS EVERYONE AND HAVE A GREAT NIGHT !
(p.s. I know I used all CAPS above, but I’m not shouting)
Where the heck is Lori Angelo?
Carol Castaldo: Hugs & kisses to you and the family.
By the way, we are the “Palma” girls, not “Palmer.” Remember, we’re Italiano.
Love you.
Florence
There should be a rule that each person can only post one message a day. Some of us have to work and really should not spend all this time reading the blogs. LOL
Karen I could never forget Edith Ann do you remember how she was the only 1 that would stay up with me all night and watch horror movies
Bob the store was on the corner of 16th and 5th the old lady was always yelling at her son and husband she sounded like the lady from throw momma from the train went she started yelling at them
Terry Angelo, you brought back good memories of Another World when you mentioned Mac and Rachel’s wedding. My Mom Florence Negri Giuttari and I were addicted to that soap.
Anne Marie Paladino, you are so sweet. I too feel you are more than a cousin.
Florence Palma, no need to apologize about my waiting on your porch. I knew that would happen and was happy to have some place to sit that was comfortable. God knows there was no place to sit at 707 5th Avenue…just one little step that was very close to the ground. No, I didn’t have your crush on Steven P. in common. I think he had quite a big one on you too which lasted a little longer.
How are your cousin’s Catherine and Mary Woods from the neighborhood. They attended Holy Family, right?
Mary Ann, we were like two kids screaming when we read Florence’s note. To think we found Florence and Harvey Bird on the same day!
What about Robert Palma and Armando Minitola from 23rd Street near 4th Avenue. They were fun. Does anyone know anything about them?
My own e-mail address is [email protected].
By the way, Florence, how nice of you to think of my birthday and have a card. I do think of Cathy Guerrasio and you in January. Do you remember how I raised my hand in Sister Amata’s room and quietly asked if we could sing Happy Birthday to you? She sent you on an errand and the class sang when you returned to the classroom. That was pretty brave of me because I was so afraid of the nuns.
Everyone, have a good night.
Marie Elena: So glad you’re still up. I’ve been trying to close down my computer for the last hour and am so addicted to this site that I’ve been reading. I’ve also been on my email with Mary Ann. Please release me from this habit. I see you’re on aol also and will put you on my buddy list if I could figure out how to do it.
Mary Ann said we shouldn’t worry about you getting dimentia because you’re remembering things that happened fifty years ago like it was yesterday. I told her that I wish we could have a three-way conversation or, better still, fly down to see me. Or, maybe I can fly up and we could meet somewhere for the day.
You have my email address so we could talk a little about all the happenings in our lives. I love you and will talk to you soon.
Sorry wrong Joy, Linda I don’t think I know you, I was thinking of Elizabeth Joy are you sisters? I know there where a few of you. I went back and saw the blog from Elizabeth Joy, I knew that name was familiar, you where friends with my sister-in-law Karen, who was married to my brother-in-law Jimmy. I just saw Karen In April I came up from Florida for my neice Heahters wedding. Karen looks great as always, Although she is my X sister-in-law I still consider her my sister-in-law we where always very close. I miss her friendship. So now I’m going back up to New York for my other sister-in-law Maria’s sons wedding, hence the reunion blame me its my fault, Terry wanted to due this now because me and Richie are coming up. LOL
Marie Elena,
I just remembered when you asked about Armando that his wife, Susan, worked in my school district as a cafeteria aide. I saw her name on payment vouchers but never saw her. I wanted to try to speak to her at some point over the years but never got the chance. I believe he lived within blocks of my office at the district. I’m so sorry I let the opportunity pass.

Hi Twiggy! I’m here everyday checking in…OK not once a day, about 100 times a day! My 11 year old said to me the other day “are you reading that old friends thing again?”. So happy to hear that you will be at the reunion. I can’t wait to see you.
Gina, I will be calling, I promise!
Terry Angelo: I have a life, I have to get to work and I’m on the blog. You have to be on the blog everyday, because you miss too much and you can’t catch up. Thank God, I don’t have to make the sauce- Terry there are so many new people STILL, the blog get’s more spiritual everyday.
That’s the way the universe is, we are all connected, and always expanding.
Castaldo Sisters, I can’t wait to see you guys.
Charles Meile, The image of you is getting clearer, I remeber what you looked like now.
Carol Miele: I am so happy, your sister Roseann is coming, I remember her so well. If Maria comes that would be some bonus.

Did I see Rita Negri’s name mentioned up there? Is she on? I can’t find her entry.
Christina-Keep up the good work-Terry is my sister amazing or what?
Great Idea for the catering-What a re-union this is going to be.
We still need Joey Guzzo, Catherine Paladino, who else.
Florence Palma: I remember your name so well, but who are you, and all your friends.
OK Terry, can I go to work now?
Laura Marsella

TOMMY ALIOTO
How the hell are you. Are you still a firefighter. I know ou remember me, I used to rent the garage from your dad on 21st street. I’m now is S.I. for the past 10 years. It’s not Brooklyn, but I love it out here. How is your family, hope all is well. And is your mom and dad still with us. I hope so. Would love to see you at the reunion. Hope you can make it.
Laura
Hi Marilyn and Janet and to former neighbors from 20th street and surrounding area. If I don’t make it to the reunion, I’ll see you before next overseas trip.
Hi Susan Orlandi
About time you logged on!
Hope your summer has gone well and I will see you tomorrow.
Hi to Donna Rietz Tanzillo,
Remember me? We were in St. John’s together. Susan and I reminicse (I think that’s how you spell it – I only teach kindergarten and we don’t use big words like that ) about the old neighborhood during our lunch time. We dine together every day in my classroom – or should I say inhale our lunches in less than 50 mins.
All this reunion talk – wish I could be there – but I just can’t.
Hope everyone had a wonderful summer.
Now it’s back to work 🙁
Santini the years have flown by. Can’t wait to see you and Jimmy at the reunion. I think Mom and Dad may show up they’re undecided . At their age they have to see how they feel that day.
Have you spoken to Louise C. lately?
Sorry Santina spelt your name wrong LOL
Elizabeth Joy: I am doing fine. I am still working on Wall St. at a law firm. I have two children, my daughter Jeanine 28. She is an EMT with the NY Fire Dept. My son Spencer (guess where he got that name(lol)) just turned 18 and is attending college. We’ve been living on S.I. for the past 25 years. To be honest, it’s never felt like my real home. Brooklyn is and always will be. My husband Frank is retired from Verizon. Hope all is well with you.
Hey, how come everyone got paid to work in the Rectory!? I had to work there for free!
Lori….WHAT??? You didn’t get paid? At least we go slave wages.
Anthony Oliva
I am a friend of Marie Elena and Florence Palma..we all grew up togehter on 22nd St..between 5th and 6th…I was showing this site to my brother yesterday….and he thought he recognized the name Oliva, his name is Harry Yasso and he used to hang on 4th Ave…his computer is not working, out being fixed, so I am asking for him, did you know him????? He knew Deedee that some people have mentioned on here…
Sorry, haven’t had much coffee yet!!! We got slave wages… lol
Linda Joy
Yes still working, I’ll probably work for a long time, wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I didn’t…..besides I have no grandchildren to babysit for, my granddaughter Toniann is going to be 24 Sept. 1st. I only have the one, but I love her to death…..I can’t believe all Sheila’s kids are grown with families of their own, time really flies, it’s funny but I still think of them as kids, but there all grown up. How are Lauras siblings, Susan, Alison,Jackie, Duke, Peggy, wow, and I almost forgot, how is your hubby John? Also my sister Carol has been asking for Barbara, she would love to speak to her as would I, if you look on the blogs above she left her e-mail address if Barbara would like to drop a line to say hello. This site is so wonderful!!!!!!

Terry Angelo Sherman,
Can I just call you TAS for short ? I never received the email from you with details of the reunion (see email below address below). There are some names on this blog which are very familiar, some vaguely familiar and others I don’t remember ever knowing. If anyone remembers me, feel free to contact me.
P.S. I never worked for slave wages or soup in the rectory but delivered milk to the classrooms for free. There is a very funny story from recent years related to that information but unfortunately it is confidential (job-related) and I would have to erase the memories of everyone reading this.
