I am sending you an excel spread sheet will all the info….
Anthony Rizzo -It was perfectly acceptable to be curious about my inquiries for both Dorothy & her Mom Ann. It’s been a very long time and hearts do mend. I met your cousin in school and the first time I gazed at her it was truly love at first site. She turned my offer down to date but I was undeterred. Several months passed and I got up enough nerve to find her and ask her out. This time she said yes and for months it was heaven for me. I danced with an angel. I wanted to marry her before I went to Viet-nam. Her letters and pictures helped me thru some very difficult times. I came home early due to injury. It was odd that she wasn’t at the airport with my family. Upon arriving home I drove to her place with my heart chock ful of energy. Within a ten minute span though my heart was broken never to hold the freshness and feeling of completeness again. We didn’t see each other for many months but I tried once more to gain her heart. I took her out but for the better part of the evening I was ignored and her friends came first. I drove her home never to see her again. Do I believe in love at first sight? For sure. Your cousin was a beautiful girl. It’s been many years but watching my own daughter grow up to be a woman – I saw that Dorothy just didn’t love me as I loved her. That’s surely not her fault. Her Mom saved a young boy with understanding and love. I will always remember her. I do hope she is well.
Terry Angelo Sherman —- I want to express my gratitude in attempting to find Dorothy and thank you for the kind words to a guy who just did his duty and was prepared to lay down my life for the liberties and freedom of my family and people who I do not know. I wish your reunion to be a huge success – I know nothing of all the bloggers but reading them nightly brings a certain togetherness in humanity – to be treasured for sure.
Is there any others who attended John Jay High School and graduated in 1963 or who might have attended JHS 51 and graduated in 1960???
Janek and Maryann – Hey, how are you? Good to hear from you people. How’s your family doing? My brother Jeff has been asking about you, wants to get in touch. I’ll give him this site. Jimmy Kelly – nobody knows where he is. George Fachner and I have been married for 33 years. Three children and two grandchildren and loving it! Many memories, remember 2 stoops, Sally Rico playing warden, BuckBuck, and many other good times. Tell Henu I said hello. Talk to you soon.
Danny Lovaglio- I remember you from Seafarers, how are you?
Nilda Rodriguez – Long time no see, How’s your granddaughter? Hope the family is doing well.
Michelle – Hey Michy, its Aunt Tina. How are you doing? Hope the boys are doing well.
Franny Bruno, Wow your still in touch with Debbie Walters, It would be so nice to be in touch with her. I hope she’s ok. Have a nice lunch with Jamesy, don’t let him babble too much.
My home phone is- 516-708-1184 and my cell is 516-459-5369
Thanks Franny
Carol Castaldo,
How can you not know us. My dad Whitey worked with your Dad for Rentar trucking for years. Ask you Mom about Anna & Whitey.
I live 3 doors away from Janice and 5 from Anothy Spinata. I passed the site on to him. I saw you at her house a few years ago.Guess you don’t remember.
Barbara Spencer… Hi. Of course I remember the Durante Twins. We went through all of school together. It was sad to hear of Annette’s passing. Wonder what Arlene is doing? I’m going to look through some old pics from school. I’ll bring whatever I find. See you.
Elizabeth Joy… I must know you. I’m just very bad at names. You mentioned earlier to Franny about how you knew me. I did know Elizabeth Affisco and Lucille DeCanio. Both their mothers worked with mine at 146. You also mentioned Bernadette and another girl who’s name you couldn’t remember. Could it be Laura Zmijewski ? Shes’s my cousin and I know she was very good friends with the above girls. She was very tall and lived on 17th street.
Terry
Got ahold of Sandy Morello she will pass the info on to Neal, Patty and Andy. They will let us know if they can make it. Hey spoke to Dimi boy does he sound great at 92 years young and Mitilde sounds great too! She’s going to try to get ahold of Irene Matula and let her know and anyone she sees.
Talk to you tomorrow
I am really enjoying reading all this. So many names are so familiar and I can recall all the places mentioned.
I graduated from St. John’s in 1960. I lived on 5th Avenue and 22nd Street above the gas company. Janet, I loved your grandfather, Sal.
I married Jack D’Angelo from 20th Street near 6th Avenue. We will be married 40 years in December. We have two daughters and four granddaughters.
My grandfather owned Negri’s Bar and Grill and my Uncles and my father helped him work there. My mother always talked about my Grandfather walking in his white suit with the Club on special occasions.
Lentini twins I remember when you were born on 22nd Street between 4th and 5th at that time, I believe. Loved your family and your Mom handed me a rose to put on my father’s grave at his funeral mass at St. John’s. I was so touched by that. Please say hello to her. And Susan was a proud big sister.
Frank Mauriello, I think of your parents each year when we go to Villa Roma, They would sit and chat with my parents there as would your Aunt and Uncle. Say hello to Bernadette. She was a good friend of my cousin, Margaret Giuttari as teenagers.
As was mentioned I’m still close to Mary Ann Fucci. I have been looking for Florence for quite a while and I’m hoping she does get in touch. Both were my bridesmaids.
John Guerrasio is in England I think. Saw him on the Travel channel. He’s an actor. Frankie I’ve seen and Cathy was here with Frankie and she was a perfect tour guide when we visited Italy 5 years ago. She speaks perfect Italian and lives in Rome.
Rita Negri lives in Massuchsetts near her daughter, Mom and two grandchildren, Bobby Horan I remember you as being friends with Eddie Elardo.
It’s good to read names of old classmates like Jerome Howard. Jackie Price,John Matula, Judy Volpe, Helen Wozney, Mary Ann Fucci (of course) whom I spoke to today, Florence Palma and Cathy Guerrasio.
Angelo girls, I loved your parents store.
Thanks for bringing back all the great memories, everyone. Keep them going.

Hi Rosie,
I’m so happy to see that you are on this blog, I haven’t been on for awhile, just as I was reading some of the comments, saw you where on here. I hope your doing well, I speak to Elisa now and then usually around the holidays, we speak at least once a year, she catches me up wants going on with you and her brothers. I was so upset when she had told me that Ritchie had passed away, I was trying to talk Elisa into to moving back up to New York to be closer to you and the family, but you know Elisa is thick headed. I always remember her being that way even as kids we went back along ways me, Elisa and Joey my very first boyfriend. I sure hope Joey is coming to the reunion, the last time I saw Joey was when I was working in Fillmore Real Estate on Flatbush Ave. I was the secretary there . I will never forget that I had my head down doing some work when I heard Con Ed come to check the meter! “I need to get the key to get down in the cellar” I put my head up to see who it was, we where both shocked to see each other it was so touching we hugged and talked for along time catching up with our lives since we hadn’t seen each other for along time, it was great what a memory, ask Joey I’m sure he will remember that. I’m going to call Elisa tommorow and call her about this reunion and about the blog maybe she will make the trip up. I haven’t phsically seen Elisa in quit a few years she came to visit me a couple of times with Richie not to long after I moved here, Im here 16 years so its been a real long time now. I wished I still lived in Brooklyn I had to best time of my life there. Take care Rosie!
Love you
Always
Judy
Hi Carol,
Flossie lives in Melbororne, Florida almost 2years now. I wll call Flossie and let her know what you told me, she has been away in LasVegas for a couple of weeks now. I’m pretty sure she came back on Monday. See you soon!
Franny:
I can’t wait to see you too!

CAROL:
I don’t know how to get in touch with Vinny or Tommy Czado I told Tommy sneicocki he is coming and so is Anthony Mauriello, Tommy told me that he was going to get in touch with Patty Morello also, I will mention Vinnie to Tommy but I know that Vinnie moved to the Bronx.
TERRY:
Maybe you should get in touch with Vinny, I’m sure he would be happy to hear from you! LOL
Twiggy, I remember you. I have 4 sons, Charlie, 27, a NYC Police Office in the 71st Preconct, Frank, 25, getting married 5/24/09, Nicholas, 23, just graduated from Montclair State U., and Gregory, 17, a h.s. senior.
Maria Castaldo, Skinflints is still there and still has great burgers.
Teresa Golino, of course I remember you and Rosa. Hope you are both coming to the reunion. If you remember, I saw you in Sam’s Club about 2 or 3 years ago with your husband.
KarenD, remember the name, can’t place the face.
Karen Bonavita, yes I graduated with Edith. Sister Robert’s was our 8th grade teacher and just didn’t show up one day. Sister Alfred was in fact mean and packed quite a slap for someone so small.
I remember Father Fred. Always had a new Buick, always dressed up on Thursday nights and got in his car parked in garage next to Atlas Savings. We always thought he was going to meet his girl friend (possibly Sister Lucia). Were we way off base. Still, he was a great guy. Remember he took the altar boys every summer to Rye Playland and his parents house in Rye, N.Y. afterwards.
For some reason I remember a boy named Raul who I think came into St. John’s in 6th or 7th grade a year behind me (would be class of 1970). He was in the first talent show at St. John’s with a band. Played drums and they sang “Hey Jude”. I think they took second place.
Hi Aunt Carol & Patsy. Hope to see you this Saturday. Aunt Carol, I have not been able to get Aunt Rose Ann on phone. Does she know about Saturday?
Anne Marie Ischia Paladino,
Hi cuz,
I always thought that technically we were cousins. Thanks for clearing that up!
Hope you had fun in Sodom, uh, I mean Vegas!
P.S. Say hi to Anthony Negri Paladino, my real cousin!
Marie Elena Guittari D’Angelo,
I think you and I are technically still cousins – Anne Marie has me all confused.
P.S. I’m having Thanksgiving with your daughter in California – can’t wait.
Mary Ann Yasso,
I remember you after all these years. Marie Elena always spoke very highly of you and wished she never left the old neighborhood. I hope you are well.
Mildred Romano… HEY dont know if u remember me,i was freinds with Lorraine Garite from 22nd street and 6th ave. does anyone know wat happened to her? I see mutual freinds like ralph and Maryann through Maryanns brother tom. they are now proud grandparents? How about you? any children or grandchildren? the old neighborhood brings back so many fun memories. You and Lorraine sneeking cigarettes and washing your hands with noxema so the nuns didnt smell the smoke . Margaret R. …I remember you more from guadalupe than the old neighborhood. How is everyone doing? How is stephanie and Tom. Is your husband retired from post office? GARY DON’T KNOW WHO U ARE BUT GOD BLESS U. YOU HAVE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL WAY WITH WORDS U SHOULD BE A WRITER. I’M GLAD U WENT ON WITH YOUR LIFE. ISN’T IT FUNNY HOW U NEVER FORGET YOUR FIRST LOVE. ……..
I got the site from Jackie Prce who got it from Sally (Ears ) Latina.
THe list of friends names is longer than I would have guessed.
Between 3rd & 7th Ave and 23rd St ( Greenwood Cemetery) to 15th St there seemed to be a number of groups that overlapped.
You were either brought together for a stickball game, met at the pool room, St John’s , St Rocco’s or at 10’s – PS 10. PS 146 ( the Alamo ) was the Ebbits field for us as it was enclosed and was perfect for around the bases Punch-Ball , and Fast Ball Pitching.
I was born 1946 with Joe (big Joe) as my older brother, Arthur my younger brother and Maryann the oldest.
The city “knocked-down” our apartment on 7th & 19th, for the Prospect Expy, and built a great park for soft ball , hand-ball etc.
Later that came down for a school. ( Louie and Anthony Trochio, Bobby adn John Coszenza and family(s) were good friends.
Landmarks – Longo’ Saloon on 21st -4th & 5th, Joe Longo’s pool room same street ( Casa Storta ). Nick’s Pool Room on 6th & 20th.
All the stores on 4th,5th, 6th, were the hub – 7th Ave – 19th & 20th had the trolley car depot, then became a factory bldg and the Texaco Station was built with the Prospect Expy.
Mikes Candy Store ( the Sherrif ) father of Rocco. That place was a sit-com waiting to be written.
My uncle Mike (Doc) Anacreante ( Uncle Mike’s brother had the funeral parlor on 5th & 21st. ),had a drug store on 20th and 6th, we lived on the top floor across from 3 Star.
Mikes Candy Store ( the Sherrif ) father of Rocco. That place was a sit-com waiting to be written.
“The Feast” on 21st had the Saloon as the base of operations with the bandstand right out front. The Italian singers paid for by my grandfather. He was known as the mayor as he knew many people. All the Old Timers would prefer to speak only Italian so as kids you would pick what was necessary, or a kick in the ass would work just as well.
I recall all my many uncles and aunts as well as all family members and friends were brought together around that event.
The cast of characters were memorable and as a kid with my many, many cousins it was a playground.
The list of names on this site spans 3-4 groups seperated by the usual 3-4 years of elementry , junior high and high school.
Amazing!!
