  1. Hello, Hello, Hello!!!!!!!! I am sure a lot of you remember me. I lived in the old neighborhood on 21st street between 4th and 5th avenues. There are so many of you that I remember. I am in Brooklyn this weekend visiting the family (my Mom is very ill) and my sister Tina told me about this blog and so I decided to check it out. I am very glad I did. Well, I am the only one who lives out of state. The rest of the family still lives in Brooklyn (I will always love Brooklyn). I am getting married in three weeks. Tina married George Fachner and they have three children and are grandparents. Jeff married, divorced, has three children, no grandchildren. Louise Fachner married Danny Cush, separated. They have two children. All of my other siblings are doing well. I definitely want to correspond with those of you who remember me but right now it is 12:35am and so I am going to sign off. Actually, I am on my nephew’s computer. My e-mail address is: [email protected].
    Good night.

    Lizzie

  2. Lizzie, I remember your sister Tina. We worked together at Seafarer’s Int’l Union on 20th. St. I believe you had a sister Sheila that was married to Donny Suarato.

  3. Hi Danny:

Well, as you can see, I have not signed off yet. I remember you also. I also worked at Seafarer’s. I dated a guy named Lou Delma for a few years who worked at Seafarer’s. I believe you lived on 6th avenue. Yes, my sister Sheila was married to Donnie. She passed away in 1980.

    Lizzie

  4. Yes, I remember when she passed. I can’t believe how many people are on this site. Hope to see you at the reunion on 9/21. It would be good to see Tina too. The name Lou Delma sounds familiar but can’t place the face. Good to hear from you!

  5. Lizzie – How the hell are you? So you are getting married. Say hello to the girls for me.
Danny Lovaglio – What’s going on? I lived upstairs. We used to spend hours in front of the door talking. My E-mail is [email protected] – Keep in touch.

I just spoke to my sister. She thinks she was with you and your late husband Sal at Villa Roma, many years back. Do you remember
    if that’s true?

She was with her husband Neil (who unfortunately has also passed away), another couple Roseann & Aneil Scotto, and Gene and Carol (your long-time family friend). Look forward to ‘meeting’ you next month.

IMAGINE THE FIRST AND LAST TIME I WAS THERE WAS 1969 A YOUNG PRETTY SKINNY GIRL. NOW WELL I WONT GO THERE. LOVE AND MISS YOU TERRY

  20. Francesca
It’s funny you should ask that….I was looking thru som old pictures and came across one from the Villa Roma with me and Carol and two others sitting on lawn chairs….but couldn’t remember who they were, but you just refreshed my memory… Iam sure it’s your sister now…I do remember the story about Neil, and was sorry to hear at the time..and haven’t seen Roseann and her husband since Carol moved from Harway Ave….I gave Gene the site here and I am sure he is reading and enjoying all the memories he has of the neighborhood….
I am not sure about making it to the reunion, I live on the island, it would be a long trip to do alone…I have trouble with the nite blindness and believe it or not, never drove myself over the bridge…lol….
At least now I know who the other two are in the picture….we did have a great time at the Villa Roma….

  21. Lizzie, you’re getting married on 9/21? Great, my anniversary is 9/22. 24 years this year! Time goes too fast!
Janet Horan – I know you were friends with Carol Diaz and her brother Eliot (Albert). Well, Carol and my brother Peter got married. They live on Staten Island. They just spent a week at my place in Saratoga Springs, NY. I gave her the web site. I’m sure she will get in touch with you.

  22. TERRY –

Welcome Home… I really did miss you lots… And as you know, there are some things that can only be ‘shared’ with certain people. Glad you had a nice time and “Fay” didn’t affect you.

I am sensing that there are more than 80 people coming to the
Reunion… I am sure of it.. Your cousins take up half the head-count (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.) Hi Terry’s Cousins!

Are there any ‘halls’ near you? It makes sense – how are you going to handle the logistics (think about warming 5 trays of baked ziti in one oven). And of course I have been ‘complaining’ about the parking from Day 1. (Barbara was going to check out available parking at a local church.) You’ll need porta-potties on your front lawn.

Let me know if you need any help coordinating – I’m leaving to go
back to Florida 8/31 for 10 days. But you can always reach me.

    Love you and Welcome back!!!

  23. Thanks Danny. It’s funny, as soon as I saw your name, your face popped up in my memory. Janet

  24. Janet, good to hear from you. I believe Carol will send this to Mildred and Margie (Babydoll). Are you coming to this reunion?
Where do you hang your hat these days?

  25. Hi, I am in WNC in the mountains and miss Brooklyn more than anyone can imagine. Today was the first time I heard about the reunion. Where and when is it. It may be worth the 11 hour drive up there. Or a flight if available, Janet [email protected] 828 712 0799

  28. TERRY –

I have to hide my computer. We have 8 people coming for dinner
tonight and I keep dropping my choirs everytime I pass my computer. Thank God Frank loves to cook… and he does it all.
(As a matter of fact, whatever I bring to the Reunion, I assure you
he’ll be preparing it.) I’m pretending I’m ‘cleaning’ while he cooks….LOL

Yes, you know Danny – I have pictures of you, Grace, him and my
mom at our kitchen table on 20th St. Check your email (one of the
last of the 300 you have).

  29. TERRY ANGELO
YOU ARE SUCH A PISSER, YOU WILL NEVER CHANGE. YOU ARE SO FUNNY. I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY ALL THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE. I JUST SPOKE TO MY SISTER ANNA MARIE IN LAS VEGAS. SHE SAYS SHE REMEMBERS EVERYONE AND SENDS HER LOVE. PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH AND LET ME KNOW THE FINAL LOCATION OF THE REUNION. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE. IS YOU MOM AND DAD STILL WITH US. I WASN’T SURE. TALK TO YOU LATER
    LOVE LAURA

  30. I always think of Anna when I think of Brooklyn and how much she like horses and horse racing, lol. Please tell her I said HELLO, Janet

  31. MARYANN –

That probably is my sister Phyllis and Neil in the picture. The whole Scotto Family always went to Villa Roma every year. That time and place were ‘history-in-the-making.’ I never went but others loved it.

Sorry not to see you at the reunion; and I understand about the
driving. I’m about 1 hr. 20 mins. from Terry’s and will be leaving
to come home before it gets dark. In my day I travelled alot for
my job and never thought anything of it. I drove all over ‘the
world’ in all kinds of weather….. But now I hate it (especially night, and especially bridges; we won’t even discuss rain and snow).

A few years ago, I was on a business trip down near Tampa and had to go over the Sunshine Skyway – I nearly had a heart attack
when I approaced it. Have you seen that monster? I would have paid someone (maybe even offered sex) 🙂 LOL just to have someone drive me over.

So I took out my rosary beads and held on tight. Jesus was embedded in my hand by time I got to the other side. My husband and I frequently fly into Sarasota and fly over the bridge – I look at it and get anxious. A few months after that journey, I learned that bridge (the older version) was the one that collapsed and cars drove right off. Just what I needed to hear (and the remains of that bridge are still there to see).

Take care and thanks for sharing my phobias….
(And do you believe I go and marry someone who isn’t fond
    of bridges either…)

Ok – I really have to go back to my life now…
    My adrenilin is now soaring……

  32. Francesca

Glad I am not the only one with the phobia, lol….that’s just about how far it is for me….but did you ever try and drive the Southern state to the belt from Long Island, it can take you two hours just to get to the bridge…..lol….

  33. MARYANN – I’m here again – have to tell Terry something so I came back to computer… I’m with you, totally. If I ever strike it ‘rich’ the first thing I will have is a personal driver. I use a lot of ‘self talk’ to get it out of my system or else I’d never get to Brooklyn to see my sister….

  34. Ralphie S…..We lived across from you at 279. My mom lived there til she passed away in 2004.

Pat Gagliardi……Funny, I was just wondering if anyone remembered my grandfather sitting on the stoop wearing his baseball hat!!!! He was some character. Aunt Lillian and Aunt Rosie are still living on 21st street. Aunt Lillian get’s around good for 82 but Aunt Rosie isn’t doing as good. She’s 86 and is getting weaker all the time. It’s so sad.

Clotilda………..I have been trying to reach my Aunt’s for days and they’re not answering. They probably don’t hear the phone!!! If you see my aunt please ask her to call me.

Christina……How are you doing?? I’ll try to call you this weekend. Me and Karen are go to make my mothers dish and see who makes it better!!!!! See what you started!!!! LOL

  35. TERRY TERRY TERRY –

you cannot believe who Jamsey ran into while you were gone…..
Lucille DeCanio. He met her in a deli in Bay Ridge and she approached him with ‘are you from 20th St.?’ He didn’t know her – but they talked for an hour. Jamsey said (and I agree) how weird
it is that we are meeting people from our past. I mean, she JUST
    SHOWED UP…. I was shocked.

He sent me an email with her phone number. I told him that I have
been looking for her for years (even before the ParkSlope site), and finally, recently tracked down her brother. I haven’t had a chance to talk to her yet. Maybe later if I need another excuse
to do ‘nothing,’ I will try.

    DEBBIE BRODBECK SICIARGO –
    How are you, pretty woman?

I’m sure you remember her. I think her mom Josie worked with your mom at PS146. Lucille and I were BFF’s from Kindergarden through 9th grade. Then she went to John Jay and I went to good old Gay Ridge.

  36. TERRY,

IT’S TOO MUCH TO SCROLL THROUGH THIS BLOG. MARIA TOMBASCO NEEDS YOUR EMAIL TO GET INFORMATION ABOUT THE REUNION. CAN YOU POST SOME INFO AGAIN?

  37. Sal Latina just gave me this site…….havent read all of it yet, but its amazing…..there’s some names here I havent heard in 40 years+

    Be well to all

  38. EVERYONE,

WE SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER ALL SIGNING UP ON (WWW.FACEBOOK.COM) and opening up accounts. We could name our group “Park Slope” and it would be a better way to communicate with each other.

THE BEST PART WOULD BE THAT WE COULD POST OF FEW PICTURES OF OURSELVES AND FAMILY AND EVEN SCHOOL PICTURES. Surely our kids could navigate through. I’ve just joined and it’s pretty easy.

    CHECK IT OUT.

  39. Jackie Price !!! Do you remember the game (hmmmm) that you used to play called Gotcha ?? Janet

  40. Hi Gina Puglisi…..How are you? It is so great to be able to connect with friends from the past. It’s been a long time since St. John’s and you girls twirling!!! I was so jealous, I was never good at it. LOL

Hi Rosalind and Anthony….Hope all is well. Have you seen 21st recently? They completely tore down our old house and built a three story house. Its very sad to see.

Paul Oliva….Hope to someday get together again with all of you to reminisce. We had a lot of good times.

Terry Angelo….Hope to make it to the reunion with my sister Karen. What’s the latest we can let you know if we are coming?

  41. DEBBIE BONAVITA- dont worry i will pass her house later at about 5 – 5:30 and i will tell her to call you

  42. Terry you are a pisser!! Don’t throw up on the computer lol! We all missed you.

Jackie price, I don’t know if you remember me from the club on 22nd st, hi anyway. Lucia and Deetzie have be trying to find your brother Stevie. I’m sure Lucia will be on soon, maybe you can leave your email for them to contact you.

Hi Fran La Greca, it’s about time you posted lol. Glad you did Santina

I wrote twice and this crazy site makes it disappear before I send it. I’m going to write 1 line and send lol.

  43. FRAN LAGRECA
REMEMBER ME, IT’S LAURA MARSELLA YOU KINDA EX COUSIN. HOW ARE YOU AND HOW’S THE FAMILY. I’M SO HAPPY FOR THIS SITE. IT CONNECT ALL OF US OLD TIMERS AGAIN. HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE REUNION.
    LOVE LAURA

  44. Francesca – Hi, I am so happy to know that there are so many people still around from the old neighborhood. This is so wonderful. I would love to be able to attend the reunion on 9/21. There are so many I remember.

The Oliva’s – My condolences to your family on the passing of your sister, Jeannie. She was a fun loving woman. How is your brother, James? Please tell him, Liz Joy said, hi.

Terry Angelo Sherman – How are you? Hope all is well with you and the family. The last time I saw you was a few years ago at Gino’s restaurant with my sisters and friends.

Bobby Ann Lento – Great to hear from you. How are the girls doing?

Debbie Brodbeck – I know the name but cannot place the face.

Patsy Miele Kirk – I know you definitely!! We used to see each other on the train quite often going to work.

Barbara Spencer – I think of you and think of PS 146 and the Durantes. Hope all is well with you and your family. Sorry to hear about your brother.

    Lizzie

  45. I can’t believe all the young people who have passed away, that are mentioned on this site. Husbands, brothers, sisters, wives, sons and daughters.Tough lives and times but we are all here together to share in our grief and happiness. My brother Jack died at 60 in 1997. There are times I wanted to kill him lol, but I miss him very much. My condolences to all, this site really brought everyone together.

Terry start looking for a hall. And charge a fee to pay for it. We are never going to fit. Then it has to be cleaned. we might as well dirty and clean a hall. Why mess up your house? And what about your neighbors? What if it rains? I think we are way over 100. We can still bring a dish and drinks.

  46. Terry I am overwhelmed for you.. God bless you for wanting to do this. I couldn’t handle the stress. Just thinking about this I need a drink lol Santina

  47. Clotilda….thanks!!! hope they’re is okay.

    Hey Jackie Price….how are you?
