BARBARA SPENCER…. Hello…
Remember me? Franny Bruno – Grace/Gay Coen’s friend. When I left my company (and computer) a few years back, I lost many email addresses, and yours was one of them.
I remember the hours of emails that we shared after Grace died.
You were very helpful and supportive, in sharing and discussing
EVERYTHING. As you experienced personally, that was very hard,
to accept that Grace was gone. It still is.
I laugh thinking of Grace and this website. She’d probably say,
“everyone needs to get a life” I wouldn’t see her posting anything.
She was a very special, unique friend…. and I think of her very often.
It was her birthday 8/11, and I was driving around down in Florida and went down a ‘different road.’ Do you believe I was smack in front of something called “The GRACE Church” – well if she wasn’t an angel on my shoulder that morning….
I’ll note your email address again… And look forward to getting back in touch.
Hope you are doing well. I am very blessed with a good husband and good life!
BARBARA – was just logging off and caught another posting from you.
I am so sorry you lost your brother Frankie. This is a good website
to come to for prayers and support. WE’RE ALWAYS PRAYING FOR
EACH OTHER…. My heart goes out to you!
On a lighter side – the reunion is open to everyone… Look forward to seeing you again, after all these years. (I’ll send you a flyer to your email.)
To Fran: Thanks fo ryour condolences. I think we had been in touch a while back through the Brooklyn Board but this one is much better. Yes, please send me a flyer on the reunion. I worked with Grace for many years. I am still at the same place, but it’s not the same without her. It’s funny, we didn’t know we grew up around the corner from each other until we started talking about our old neighborhoods. It is truly a small world. I went to Grace’s wake. I miss her a lot. We had so many laughs together. I remember the two of us standing in front of our workplace one day and we saw Vinny Zato coming down Wall St. Grace said, “I went out with him” and then I said “well, so did I!!!!!” We both just cracked up.

Hi to the Lentini sisters. I lived down the street from you guys (Camille, my sister is Marilyn).
Santina, we did go to school with Roxanne Castaldo — hi to Roxanne and Carol. Trying to figure out if I am coming to NY — I would love to go the reunion. Sounds like so much fun! Marilyn told me that Georgine is not coming in for the wedding. Love to Jim and I really will call you.
Sally Ears, I am so glad you came on to the site! What sent you to PA? Would love to see you some time when I’m out your way. We had such good AND CRAZY times! What’s up with Jackie Price? Do you still keep in touch with him?
Jamesy Oliva and Grace were an item back in the day! I’m was sad to hear of Grace’s passing. What a beautiful and sweet girl! How is Jamesy?
Judy and Richie Catalano — I told Maria I couldn’t go to Danny’s wedding, but I am still trying to figure something out. My office has a trial coming up on Sept. 22, which makes it impossible for me to leave here the week before. If the case settles, it’s a different story. Are you guys going to the wedding? I would love to see you all!
Take care everyone!
IS QUESTION IS FOR FRANCESCA BRUNO SARACINO
DO YOU HAVE A SISTER OR COUSIN BY THE NAME OF LINDA BRUNO WHO LIVED ON 17TH ST BETWEEN 5 AND 6TH AVE?
RALPH MARSELLA
Wow what memories. I lived on 17th Street between 5th & 6th the house ain’t there anymore because of Prospect Expressway. Germains was the store to go to especially at Christmastime. The real Santa was there. I remember the Thom McAnn’sshoe store on the corner before Germains. There was the movie theater the 16th st. theater and the Avon they had matrons with flashlights. I used to bring sandwiches to eat because the show was four to five hours, there was cartoons, news, coming attractions and two feature films, one was always a western. I used to hitch on back of the trolley cars and pull down on the cables so the rail came off the wires and make the trolley stop. I loved D’Amico’s pastry shop on 20th & fifth, the macaroni shop on 5th between 18th & 19th. I went to PS 146 and wish those days were back again. I remember when world war two was over and many streets had block parties, I remember the Italian Feasts on 21st Street and most of all I remember the old man who had a merry go round pulled by a horse. This all brings a tear to my eye.
HI PATSY MIELE KIRK, HOW ARE YOU I AM SO GLAD YOU SIGNED ON, ISIN’T THIS THE BEST. I AM SO SORRY YOU CAN’T MAKE IT TO THE REUNION. I WILL MISS YOU. I SOMETIMES SEE ANGELA BUT NOT LATELY TELL HER I SAID HI. WHERE DOESD CHARLIE LIVE? ALSO ASK BOBBY PARISI IF HE REMEMBERS ME AND SAY HI. WHERE4 IS HIS BROTHER RALPHIE?
PATSY , IREMEMBER ALL THE FUN WE USE TO HAVE IN ST. JOHNS,EATIN LUNCH ALMOST EVERY DAY IN MY BASEMENT.DO YOU REMEMBER GETTING IN TROUBLE IN CHURCH FOR TALKING ALL THE TIME?
Patsy Miele Kirk,
Sooo happy you’re on!!!!
Remember Bay Ridge High School……Music Class? I’ll never forget what you ate for lunch almost daily…….tuna on a hero……right?
You’re in Bay Ridge and I can’t believe our paths haven’t crossed. Our salon is in Bensonhurst on 2lst ave. between 85th & 86th sts. Pass by…..if you’re in the neighborhood.
Yes, Patty, motherhood is wonderfull, especially when it brings grandchildren. My daughters, God Bless them both, are expecting in January. Lots to be grateful for!! .

Hi everyone. Glad I met Carol Castaldo Saturday at a bridal shower and she told me about this site. I work with Barbara Spencer now so we kept in touch. I lived 3 doors from 23rd Street Park above Itcher; ha and across from Carol Castaldo when she lived on 23rd Street. I moved when I was 16 to 22nd Street between 6th & 7th. I heard Guy Spinato still lives on 18th Street. I knew Eskew from grammar school-PS 172 (Richard & Eddie). I went to PS 10 too. Graduated Bay Ridge HS in 67. I remember Dr. Friedman; when he came to the house a shot of penicillin was a guarantee so I went under the bed!!! I live in Staten Island now so hope to see you all with Barbara.
Camille Green (Liguori)
Hello!!! I do remember you. Hope all is well.
Annie
Theresa Golina, you sound so familar did we attend school St John’s together?
Hi everyone!
I just located my 1966 St. John’s diploma and along with the diploma are pictures of both graduating classes.
What a hoot!!!
Now I am able to connect faces with the names.
Theresa Golino and Patsy Miele – I remember both of you. We were in the same class.
Annie and Louise — soooooo cute! Bet you still are.
Does anyone remember Michael Rozak? He was in our class too.
A genius!
I was also friends with some kids in the other class too — anyone remember Janet Testagrossa and Gloria Spinelli? They came from 33rd St.
Anthony Rizzo and Rosalind Castaldo Rizzo – Hi.
It almost seems like a lifetime ago.
I would love to go to the reunion but already have a prior commitment. Emily, my granddaughter’s third birthday.
I will be thinking of all of you. I’m sure it will be a blast. Enjoy!!
Debbie Paladino G:
I don’t think i know Maryann Santise; i think i may have purchased this house after she may have moved; i had this business here on 17 street for 18 years, (1988-2004) i moved into the house in 2000. But i bet my friend donna maxell knows her, donna occasionaly gets on the blog; i will ask her to rspond to you. Donna recently had an oldtimers block party, and many people who lived on 17th street showed up, donna has been living here all her life. looking forward to seeing you.
barbara spencer: Good to hear from you, i lived on 23rd street, bet. 5 & 6 th ave. i also went to p.s. 146, jr. high 10 then on to clara barton to study cosmotology (sic); i think you are younger than me, i am a joyous radiant happy to be 62 years young. i feel great, thank God. My condolesences to you, i know the feeling of loosing a sybling, it is a void that only God can fill. My older sister was stabbed 20 times by her next door neighbor 21 years ago, and there are times that i can not even think about it, but mostly the memories are good.
The reunion is opened to all, its going to be held in terry shermans house in SI, she is the mayor of the blog; u have to email terry spencer, but she is on a cruise, here is her email 0lly416@aol. she will send you the info.

Anthony,
It must have been one of your good days since you are in the class picture and avoided the dreaded closet . The class pictures surround Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas A. Sala.
There were 27 girls and 19 boys in our class. Now that I see the numbers, I guess those nuns had to be tough!
Hello,my fellow friends from Park Slope, I can finally keep in touch with everyone again. I was up in New York in 2006, and I,ll be coming up their next summer with mt two sons. i haven’t kept in touch with anyone in a long time, I lost my address book with everyones address’s in it, so hopefully now I can finally keep in touch with everyone .My sister Janet e-mailed me this site . I can;t wait to start to hear from all of you guys. I;ll be waiting!
Maria,
LOL, You made my day. LOL
Maria,
You have to come to the Re-Union, even if it’s for a 1/2 an hour, so you can bring those photos..
Msgr. Sala: When I was an Alterboy, (see? I really wanted to be good) My knees would knock my hands would tremble, helping him prepare for Mass.
Thank you so much for letting me know, I was there. Wow, 46 students, in one class. No wonder they felt like they had to beat us into submission. LOL
Debbie Bonavita,
Nice that you & Chris & Janet got together for lunch. Good to hear from you too. We are all saddened about Jeanne.
Ralph Marsella,
I was listening to the oldies station this morning and they played a song from Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge….Worse that could happen. Being on this blog I Immediately thought of you and my sister Jeanne Oliva who used to talk about you and whoever else was in the band….Sid?? I don’t remember the names , but she did. She loved you guys and when she & I would reminis about Brooklyn she would always mention you and the band.
Do you remember Jeanne? Did you guys ever play that song in your band or play at the block parties in brooklyn..Who was in the band?
I had goose bumps when I heard the song this morning and it brought tears to my eyes, I think I remember her saying that song reminded her of you & the Band and Brooklyn days. You have probably read on the blog and know that Jeanne passed away this July. Thanks for giving her such nice memories, she definately said you were all very good looking!

Hi. I don’t have a sister or cousin named Linda Bruno.
My sister Phyllis (Bruno Scotto) did go to school with Linda Bruno
from 17th St.
Now, will you tell us WHAT/WHERE the “Jelly Beaner Stoop” is, where you frequently got shot AND left to die?
EVERYONE — If you’re reading this blog at this ‘late hour’
Get out on your STOOP, deck, porch, patio, lanai, rooftop:
and even peek out your window if that works for youΓ’β¬Β¦….
But donΓ’β¬β’t miss the BEAUTIFUL MOON and STARS that are out
there tonight! (My version of ‘stop and smell the flowers’)
Good Night to All!
I am Ramon Ramasanto (known as Bo Santo) and my brother is Ronnie from 21st St. between 4th and 5th Ave. Our family were the Leone Family. We use to hang out in Rocco’s Candy Store on 5th Ave. between 21st and 22nd Streets. About 30 yrs. ago I wrote the song “Candy Store Caruso” because when we sang back then Rocco would always say “who do you think you are? Caruso, the opera singer?”…..that was in 1958.
If you would like a copy of this song….write back to me on here with your name and phone number. I live in Clearwater, Florida now and am alive and kickin’…..and still singing my heart out….
P.S. Thanks to Rocco……he was the BEST!!!

Patsy, It looks like I’m the last one up. I live on Long Island on the North Shore. I’ve been married and divorced. I have a wonderful 24 year old son. His name is Jon. He lives near by, but he’s moving into Manhattan soon. I’m a Hospital Administrator, Quality Assurance. Funny that Roz’s daughter is a NICU nurse at Cornell, I’ve worked there three times in my career. I was just promoted again, but I can’t say where I’m going yet. Anyway, you sound like you’ve turned into a wonderful person. When I saw your Aunt Carol at my sisters wake, I was overwhelmed. Then Lucia told me about the blog. What a gift we all have received.
We really don’t lose our loved ones, because they are part of us, the relationship just changes form, from the physical to the spiritual but it’s just as special. Think of this blog and all the memories we share, our joys and sorrows. Who would have thought we would be bringing everything to life again. Talking about how proud we are of our mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles and cousins, being friends and being there for each other. Now here we are realizing how important our friendships were. So many of us bonded together in some way and it just goes on and on.
Now your Aunt Carol brings up, Billy Powers, I seem to remember the name. We are still waiting for Joey Guzzo to get on board and the Parisi brothers.
Hello all — I’m still checking on the whereabouts of Ann Biscuiti, mother of Dorothy who resided at 287 21st Street. Dorothy, if you see this site – I know it’s been many years but please don’t let me down and give me some info on your Mom. I owe her plenty in life as we kept in touch for many years. I still have your pictures you sent me including the ones in the dresses from Viet-nam. You were beautiful then – respectully yours, Gary
Hi All,
