  1. HI CUZ,
{GINA RICHES] STOP BULLSHITING ON THE SITE AND GET RID OF THOSE MOVING BOXES

    RALPH

  2. Hi Patsy (Miele) Kirk,

I took a little “vacation” from the site and was so glad to go back to the comments posted and see you’ve found it as well. It’s captivating, isn’t it!

It sounds like you have a beautiful family. So happy for you. You mentioned you live in Bay Ridge now. Have you always lived in Brooklyn? My children loved visiting my parents (mom is still on 22nd St.) In fact, my middle son, Andrew, moved to Shore Road & 94th St. just this Spring and is very happy there. He was in the Navy for four years and made the move when he returned from the service. New Jersey didn’t do it for him. I still have my two sons home.

Too bad you’re unable to attend the reunion! I’m sure your aunts will share photos.

  3. Franny,

Gee I didn’t realize you knew us from 4th ave & 20th St, so long ago. Happy to hear your a cancer survivor, God Bless you too and thank you for the kind words. Nice to hear your meeting Jamesy for lunch.

    Anthony my brother,

Now that you got me on this blog I can’t shut up! Its hard to forget the teachers at St. Johns. How about Sister Edwards, very small older nun with a little voice but tough. If you said something stupid she’d say “Don’t be a Boob”. Funny she was! Yardstick anyone?

The teachers and nuns at St. Johns really worked hard for us.

Yes, how could you forget Connie Miele, she gave mommy a tip on Meatballs & sauce I never forgot. Don’t put the meatballs in the sauce too soon they eat up all the sauce.

    Rosa Golino,

Sorry I missed you at the wake. Saw Theresa & Vinny there. Chris told me how upset you were. Miss you dearly, Love you too, my good hearted, neopolitan cousin. I posted my email on the site, write to me or call me when you can or send me your email.

    bye for now

  4. HI GINA glad to see you here hope all is going well, tell your mom i said hi

  5. Geraldine! I read this blog from the bottom up, it’s just easier. Everytime I would see your comments and me not metioned I was cursing you (Anthonly O. can you write those words for me?) Then I saw your coments. First, do you believe I do not remember your brother Anthony! I asked him if your parents hid him in the bathroom when we came by! My God I think about Frances K a lot. Do you remember her red hair and she always had those rubber fingers on! There was a Micahel Clemente that was on in the begininng of this blog, I don’t know what happened to him. He worked at Seaferers also. He and I were the only young ones on this blog back then. Pauline, she was too cute for words. Everytime she would sneeze or laugh too hard she would pee! WE had some good times there.

Twiggy – did diane live near you in NJ? i thought I remember her telling me she lived near you guys. Yes, remember those lunches and the blocks of cheeses. Marie and Marion God I had a crush on Michael when we were kids. I saw him a few years ago. He was living not too far from me.

  7. Hi Patsy, Do you remember me and my husband Jim from Melody Lanes? It’s been a long time. We used to bowl on Thursday at 6:30.

  8. Hey Patsie-

Tell Bobby Parisi to tell is brother Ralphie to come on the blog.
I used to hang out with him. I remember Bobby too.

Geri, you have the greatest memory. Love you. I heard you made sauce over the week-end.

Lori, the reason you didn’t see me is because I lived like Batman. I used to dwell on roof tops and hang out under highway underpasses. I would resurface only if absolutley necessary. I was always on 19th street, or out somewhere. I was never home. What years are you talking about. I’ll tell you what I was doing. I guess you’re Geri and Christina’s age. So you wouldn’t have seen me around. Don’t forget I’m 5 years older than Jeanne and about 10 years older than Geri. I guess I was out and about. What about Jamesy did you see him.

  9. To the Lentini twins. According to Anthony Rizzo (see above) we were in the class of 66 together, also with Maria Aversano.

  10. Does anyone know what happened to Tina & Elizabeth Joy or Louise Fachner I would like to know what happened to them.
The last I heard Tina Married Georgie Fachner

  11. Does anyone remember Little Maria from 22nd Street. She died of breast cancer about 25 years ago. she left four young children I often wonder what happened to the kids. She had two brothers Butchie and Anthony

Liz (Elizabeth) Joy is doing well. She just moved back East (to PA)
from Texas. She’d been living in Texas for quite a few years.

I sent her this Site a month or so ago. I know she is very busy.
Her mom is very ill, and she’s been running back and forth to
Brooklyn. Additionally, she is planning for her wedding (Sept ’08)
If I speak to her, I will let her know you asked for her.

  25. Patsy Miele Kirk – Hi! I used to hang out with your brother Charlie on 5th Ave. & 21 St – in front of Atlas Bank! How is he – give him the site and tell him to log on. I remember one of your uncles drove limos and I used him for my prom way back in 1974. We had to be home early cause he had to drive for a funeral – what a way to end a party!

Frannie Bruno Saracino – I have been keeping a count and lots of people are coming. When Terry’s back we’ll match lists (since I’m sure people are emailing her too) and get it in gear. Don’t know anything about a hall but carpooling is a good idea. Parking is difficult not only in SI but I think it’s worse in Brooklyn.

Gina Riches – glad to see you on the blog. even happier that you moved to SI – you’re not far from me – I’m in Huguenot. (btw – it’s Karen Dritto). 3 girls wow! How’s mom and do you still keep in touch w/Ronnie? Remember when he used to drive us to work!! I took your number and will call you.

Gotta get back to work – everyone enjoy the day. Will be back soon.

    karen dritto

  26. PATSY MIELE,

I have just gotten a picture of your face in my mind and I’m so glad to hear from you.

Your grandmother was the BEST friend to my mother. She was with her through thick and thin, honestly. I remember Connie shouting from the bottom of our long stairway, “Florie, put up a pot of coffee, I got a piece of cake”. I also remember when my mother was making baked clams for my father and she accidently threw away the shells. Your grandmother’s remedy, “form a shell out of tin foil, Florie, and tell Nean (what she called my dad) that is how they are serving them at Coney Island”!

Connie knew everything that was going on, in fact, there were times she knew even before the incident occurred. I don’t know where I heard this from, but the story goes like this:

(Connie) “Florie, Florie, did you hear about the car crash?”

    (Florie) What car crash, Connie?

(4 minutes later) noises from outside, crashing sounds of glass shattering all of the street! TOO, TOO FUNNY.

The other tale was if you needed to communicate information to the masses, you would use, Telephone, Telegraph and TeleConnie!

Your grandmother taught me as a young girl how to fill the tomato paste cans with water, and scrap them clean before adding to my Sunday sauce. She made some delicious meatballs, too! I think you had some type of swing set in your backyard as well. Am I correct?

We have many, many funny stories about your grandmother, Connie, but of all the memories I have, my fondest and dearest was how she would just sit for hours and hours helping and comforting my mother through some of her worst times. She was the constant friend in my mother’s life and they shared many good times too. Many good dinners and holidays and baking. She was a beautiful woman and I will NEVER forget her for the love and comfort she gave to my mother and us.

  27. Hello. To Ralphy. Its been45 years.Hope your doing well.Sure would like to get in touch with Sally Ears. Take Care. Mikey.

  29. hi christine oliva i am so glad you remembe me. i was always with jeannie. we did shopping and laundry together all the time. i think i am not 100% sure, but almost sure my grandmother dubbed you “Twiggy” you were small and thin. i always thought she coined that phrase for you. i could be wrong though. well got to get back to work. great hearing from you. stay well πŸ™‚

  30. Christina…I can’t believe your memory. You remember everything!!!!! I can’t wait to talk to you, we have so much more to catch up on.

Geraldine….I can’t tell you how saddened I was when Jeannie passed. Christina and I were just making plans for me to come there for the day. I have to many memories of all of you. You guys were my second family.

Karen D….please email me the info on the reunion, Karen and I are gonna try to make it. [email protected].

  32. Hi Paulie Oliva….my deepest sympathy goes out to your whole family. I certainly know how you feel. After Edithann passed, my father used to tell us that if we kept her in our hearts she will never really be gone. Unfortunately we face too much sadness in our lives. I know Jeannie and Edith are catching up right now!!!

  33. Francesca….

The reason why I recognized your name was thru Carol (aka Cookie) from l8th street, she did marry Gene Cassone…Cookie and I grew up together and she knew your sister Phyllis thru Neil Scotto…..I guess I remember hearing your names all the time and yes Ruthie Vivenzio was a friend of Cookies also…..I don’t think we ever met in person, but I did recognize your name. I just finished talking to her so that I would get everything straight….I gave Gene the site and he has been reading….and enjoying every minute of it…

  34. Christina:
    the pharase was
“Connie knows news before it happens.”- For me Connie Miele was a pain, because she would always catch me playing hookey- it didn’t matter where I was she would see me and then tell Mom. She also always advocated using the Strap, she would say put it around you neck as a constant remimder for us to behave. She was so funny and your so right she was our families greatest friend.

Pattsy I remember you so well, thanks for the nice words about Jeanne- the laundry, the shopping, growing up on 20th street. Between you and Christine and Geri, I’m dizzy with all these memories coming up. What a site this is.

    Ralphie Marcella:
Do you remember me? I was Jessie Vigs closest friend. We grew up at the hip together. Was at the Gridiron all the time. I’ll be at the reunion so I’ll see you there.

  35. Anthony Rizzo
I remember you quite well we were all from 66′ so is
Michael Gagliardi, Constance dritto etc.. i am happty things are going so well. Let Rosie’s mom know I remember her very well especially at John Jay where she allowed me to escape ( I was onthe football team & she would say I know your dad). she knew my dad well.. I was unfortunate that I had no grand parents except for Grandma costaldo & Perotta both were lovely women & treated all the kids like their own.

How is your cousin Vinny from across the street?

Anthony Oliva was Jeanne , Mathew Gaeta wife?

Iwish i could attend the reunion. Is it open invitation? I can be reached at [email protected]. I am leaving for amsterdam on monday would love to see you all!

    TO ALL REMEMBER & SMILE.

  36. Wow! I remember so many of the names and places mentioned here. Does anyone remember me? I lived at 698 6th Ave. across from Joe’s Candy Store. My mother’s name was Lenore and worked in Richlieu Pearl Factory on 24th or 25th St.. My twin brothers were Davie and Frankie (Blue.) Used to be called the Blue Boys. We lived next to Sally Ricco . Anyone remember Danny Lorenzo, Joey Colonna (Mousey), Pat Blynn, Grace (Gay) Cohen? (Sadly she passed a few years ago.) Remember Alex & Phyllis Narducci? So many others too….

  37. HI KAREN DRITTO (RIGHT)? I REMEMBER A CONSTANCE DRITTO. I AM PRETTY SURE I WENT TO SCHOOL W/HER. I DO REMEMBER YOU. I CAN PICTURE YOU PERFECTLY. HOW ARE YOU. MY BROTHER IS GOOD HE HAS 4 SONS. ONE JUST RECENTLY GOT ENGAGED. ALL GOOD STUFF. ARE YOU TAKING A COUNT FOR THE REUNION? IF YOU ARE, PLEASE SEND ME FLYER OR WHATEVER INFO I NEED. I WAS NOT GOING TO GO, BUT MY DAUGHTER CHANGED HER PLANS FOR HER ANNIVERSAY DINNER. I AM EXCITED ABOUT SEEING OLD FRIENDS AND MAKING NEW ONES. MY E-MAIL IS [email protected] IN CASE U NEED IT.

  38. Forgot to ask. Does anyone remember Annette and Arlene Durante from 23rd St. (Annette died when she was 18, I believe.) She was my best friend back then. What a shock and loss. Would love to get in touch with Arlene if anyone knows how. Met Maria (from 4th Ave.) in S.I. (where I live now) not too long ago. Said she knows where Arlene is and would give me her number but I havn’t seen her. You can reach me at [email protected]

  39. Karen Dritto:
Thanks for the shout out. I see Ronnie all the time. He’s doing great. Mom also doing well. Call me when you have some time.

    Tilly Riches (Costa):
We just moved into our house on Saturday and trying to settle in. Hope all is well with you. Please send my regards to Mom.

    Lori Angelo:
Still waiting to hear from you. I would love to get in touch with Michael S. Remember all the plays and movies we made down in Michael’s basement. Annie S was a blessing to all of us. She opened her home and kept us off the streets. I wonder if Michael S has any of those home movies?

    Cousin Ralph:
I have to log off and get back to those boxes.

  40. Steve K,

Your invited to the reunion, and yes Jeanne was Matty’s wife. Mat died in 2001. Hope to see you at the reunion.

  41. hola:

Patsy; yes you had full eyebrows, and a beautiful face; but best of all you had a super personality. i also remember your grandmother with fond memories; one thing that stands out is, speaking of my children, “Small children small problems, big children big problems.” in other words enjoy the children when they are young. i am glad u will be attending the reunion. lookin forward to see you, bring pictures of your children.

Barbara Spencer: i can visualize the house where you lived, i remember the “blue brothers” they were sooooooo good looking; i believe you are much younger than me; so i guess for that reason i don’t remember you. how are ur brothers and how are u? glad to see you here. I loved Joe Bubbas store.

  44. Hi Maria Castaldo…
I was in Joyce’s class in St. Johns…along with Judy Giordano, Elaine Scura, Maryann Santise (remember that tall stringbean?), Concetta, AnnMarie, etc…too many to remember! I lived on 33rd Street, across the street from Diane Tartaglia (weren’t you in her class at St. Johns?). Diane and I grew up together…we were great friends. The Wysokowski’s lived on the same block…Joanne and Joey…do you remember them? We all grew up together…it was a great block!!!

    Hi Joyce,
It’s nice to hear from you…do you still live out here on SI? I’m in the Hugeonot area. I met up with Joanie (she lived on 5th Ave) I think you should rememeber her….you may have hung around with her back then. She came into the Bridal Shop, where I work Part time, with her daughter, to buy and wedding gown! Boy, did I feel my age that day!!!! Joanie looked the same….When she came in I thought I knew her…she looked so familiar…she recognized me right away…I was surprised!

    Hi Judy!
Whuz up? I love this site! Are you going to the reunion every one is talking about? Call me….
    Love-ya,
    Deb

    To Debbie Bonavia McCarthy..

Do you remember the Talent shows at St. Johns? Cynthia, Dana along with another girl friend of theirs were in the show 2 or 3 years in a row..I used to Choreograph their dances and they won!! That was so much fun!! I remember the Giordano Girls always in the show too…they were the singers!! Those were the days!!!!

  46. MARYANN –

YES… That’s how we (my sister Phyllis and I) figured we knew you.
She made the Gene Cassone/Carol connection. I know them well
too. They are very close friends with my sister’s in-laws (Scotto’s).

I look forward to meeting you in person. I know many of us will
say “Oh, that’s you…” and we will recognize each other (hopefully,
I’ll be recognized πŸ™‚ It’s been a long journey… as for most of us.
Some wrinkles, grey hairs, pounds, forgetful moments….. But we are here and that’s what matters!

HI GENE… if you are out there peaking in… Love to Carol!!

and a HI to DOLORES….. I think you are out there peaking in also… (You know who you are) xxxxx

  47. Hello Nilda….
I don’t think we know each other… you seem to know lotsa people! Do you remember Maryann Santise? She lived on 17th Street between 3rd and 4th Ave? She was one of my best friends growing up in St. Johns and afterwards too. She even lived with my family for a while….her parents moved the family to Upstate NY and when she finished HS, she got a job in NYC and came back to Brooklyn for a while and lived with us…Judy Giordano and I spoke with her about a year ago, and haven’t heard from her since……We miss her!

  48. To Nilda: You name is familiar to me. I went to P.S. 146, I.S. 10 and then John Jay. I am doing fine. I have a daughter 28 and a son 18. I live on S.I. with my husband and son I work in the financial district. Unfortunately, my brother Frankie passed away a little over a year ago. I am so heartborken. We were so close. My bother David is living in N.J. with his third wife. He has had his health problems over the years. Both of them have always been very handsome though. Neither one ever lost their looks. I know the girls were crazy about them. Do you know if this reunion is open to anyone? Do you have any info on it?
